Lois, Mom, Mammaw, Memaw

No fancy words today.... just pictures of the fun times

We love you and miss you
We thank God for the wonderful life we had with you
We rejoice that you are with Jesus and all your sickness is gone
Not sure we've "had a party" but when we get together we laugh
And we definately look forward to seeing you again in Heaven!

cupcakes!

i made the hottest cupcakes today and I thought you kids should see them.

they are dark chocolate fudge cupcakes with icing that has the slightest hint of mint. and as you can see, they are gorgeous.
Photobucket

i'm taking them to a dinner party tonight. i know i have the presentation points, but i'm worried the do-it-myself icing will remind the others of toothpaste. we'll see!

prayer people unite.

as some of you may have already heard, i'm not having a very good week.
i'll spare you the gruesome details. if you really want to know then you can ask.
so, here is my plea.
pray hard.
specifically that:
- i will be able to find some more classes to fit my schedule for next semester (i only have 11 credits right now and i should have about 18)
-housing situations for next semester will work out
-that i will get over my cold (almost there...)
-that i will be able to get my room straight and my sanity back because of it
-and that my computer will get fixed in a timely manner

Just a little insight into the computer situation: that computer is my life. I do all my school work on it. I SAVE all my school work on it. It is my connection to the outside world. I do basically all my correspondence on it. Get my drift? I spent 2 hours on the phone yesterday with tech support trying to fix it and nothing was resolved. The good news is that my computer is under warranty until 2010 so the new hard-drive is covered under that. The bad news is that I have to wait for a technician to call me and set up an appointment for the installation of this new hard-drive which will be tricky. The hard part is that I live in a dormitory that doesn't allow for visitors of the opposite gender, and I'm assuming that a man will be sent out for this job. SOOO, on top of scheduling difficulties, I will probably have to lug out all my stuff and stake out some territory in the main lounge where this guy can work on my computer. Jiminy Cricket.

Ok so... I know that things are going to work out (All things work together for good for them that love God, for them that are called according to His purpose- Romans 8:38), it's just the in-between times that are really starting to get to me. I love and miss you all. Thanks for being my prayer people.

i was going to wait to post,

but this weekend was just too good. in a horrific way.

friday night into saturday:
-heat out, had to call landlord
-fled to dunkin donuts, didn't have what i wanted but they didn't tell me until i paid for it
-apt. search continues, landlord called me
-locked myself out of my car and apt, had to call landlord
-heat, thankfully, back on
+went out with friends and had a characteristically undergrad night

sunday:
-read only a number of pages in an 800 page book for tuesday
-spent hours on student papers only to find out that two of my students are cheating
-college park internet down, can't email pat about cheaters
+fled to beth's and watched waiting for guffman

so, things could have been worse, but they were pretty rough this weekend. now it's back to the grind of the weekday. ugh.

***
ok so this past weekend i went to pittsfield, massachusetts with katie black for easter. it was amazing. when we were walking around town on North Street we found this pavilion thing.

it ended up being a poem booth for all pittsfieldians to go into and jot down their poetry and hang on the lines inside. it was extremely windy and in the 30's. the door to the pavilion was blown open while we were inside and then slammed on katie when she tried to come out. no joke. i actually had to go and help her pull the door open while she pushed. insane.

had to take this picture for the obama fans among us... still inside the pavilion.

this was taken at Pancho's restaurant. i had the Pancho burger. it was like a hamburger steak with guacamole and lettuce on the top. it was amazing.

PURPLE HOUSE, MOM!!!! took this one especially for you <3

so i had to convince katie's siblings (well, just seth needed convincing) to come out to the park with katie and i after church for some pictures!!! it was FREEZING.

seth, cariss and i... what you can't see is that these things are loose and about 4 feet off the ground. they moved when you stepped on them... it was scary.

so MOM, i really missed you this weekend. you know how i called and said i got a t-shirt at the thrift store that said St. Teresa's on it? well.... we found St. Teresa's :) <3

this picture was painted on the wall inside pancho's. anyone else think that looks like fergie-ferg?

***SO.... I was having such an amazing time this weekend at katie's and i decided to have a dance party by myself. i am wearing a trucker hat, a maroon headband over that and a belt as a neck-tie. it was a good time. i thought ya'll would like some pics so ya'll could feel like you were there with me :)***

I'm not sure what I was doing in this last one... but it seemed to fit. I was tired, but wired. who knows...

Ok... now back to schoolwork and bummy stuff like that. ACTUALLY i'm about to go out with katie to WAWA for some coffee (i think i still have a couple dollars on the card gramma gave me- by the way grams, that card has been amazing!!!!), and some tissues (a slight cold... i used some zicam though) and then get to my horrid homework. i love and miss you guys like crazy! see ya'll soon, hopefully talk to ya'll sooner :) <3

happy easter!

i wish i could be chillin' with you guys today, but instead i have a date with an 800 page sci-fi novel and 8 student papers. yay school!

NEVER click : )

hey kids,

i noticed below josh's awesome picture that there has been another random comment that encourages a potentially fatal click. please don't click these links; they might be nothing, but they are probably viruses or spyware at best. so, we're all familiar with the real members of the blog. let's collectively snub those who would try to infiltrate.

happy sunday!

Extra Money without really doing anything... :)

I just got off the phone with Anita, and we both agreed that the following information is very blog-worthy. :)
A few weeks ago, I was going over my bills. I had recently stopped working my second job, and I was missing the extra money I had each month. In an attempt to earn extra money without really doing anything strenuous, I got online and began my search. Things like babysitting, (which I find very strenuous) online surveys and others popped up on google. However, one thing in particular caught my eye. "Give plasma for quick cash"- Now, I know what you must be thinking.... Giving blood for money is just a tad creepy. I thought so too. I had never given blood before at this point, and I didn't really know how I felt about it. UNTIL I saw how much they paid you for it. Your first "blood donation" was $35. You can give twice in a week, so the second donation was $50. $85 dollars in one week for doing nothing but sitting in a chair, eating cookies and drinking juice sounds like a deal to me! So, I went to the local blood bank in Norfolk and began my quest for quick cash. After your first two visits, they consider you a frequent donator. You then are only given $50. Fine with me! I gave my first two donations, and since then, I've given blood almost every week for almost a month now. I have A- blood. This is a rare type of blood apparently (go figure), so they use my blood to develop vaccines for rabies, tetinus ( i think) and a vaccine for pregnant mothers with A- blood. Apparently, pregnant women with A- blood develop a toxicity to their own unborn child, and untreated, it can kill the baby. They have to have vaccines througout their pregnancy. I insure there will be no shortage of these vaccines.. :)

Some people become telemarketers. Some dress up as the Statue of Liberty outside Jackson Hewitt during tax time. I have become a blood donator.

<3 <3 <3 love love love you all!!!

a photo update

Hey guys!!! I'm baa-aaa-aack!!!! and with pictures :) They're severely out of order, and I'm sure that I could've chosen better ones, but I did the best I could. Hope you enjoy them :)

This is me at Lake Champion for Snow Camp a few weeks ago where I worked as a server with Renae. This was taken in about 5 minutes of free time that we had all weekend. Ha!

So... when Renae and I were going to Snow Camp, we decided to leave a day early from school and go to her house for a day first. GOOD IDEA because it snowed over 12 inches that night and we wouldn't have been able to get up to NY if we hadn't gone up the day that we did. SOOOO, we decided to go sledding and climb some trees.

Just for the record, tree climbing while it's snowing intensely is not a good idea. This picture was staged, but it contains some truth in its intensity. I was scared to DEATH up there... we were only like 10 feet off the ground, BUT it was all slippery and some of the smaller branches tended to break easier because they were frozen.... no bueno.

At Snow Camp. This is Renae's brother, Ben, stirring the eggs.

That's me and Ben (he's not really that short, I don't know why he crouched down like that). Don't ya'll love my bagel stylings :)

So... Renae and I were trying to get a picture of us jumping while using the self-timer.... it didn't work. This was like 1 of 12 tries.

CHINA TOWN!!!! Chris and Laura Leichty took Katie and I to China Town for the final day of celebration of Chinese New Year.

Katie looks Chinese, and so does Laura with her eyes half open like that :)

This is me and Katie in front of all kinds of little trinkets that I wanted to buy!

Some little kid amongst all the confetti with his lion costume on. I wanted to buy one of these too :)

I am really sorry that all of these pictures are out of order. This is from the day before Snow Camp at Tabatha's house in Orange County, NY. Tab took my camera...

Manda and Nini from sometime during Christmas break. ha!

Whoa, mandi! ha... i don't even know what else to say :)

our adventure on the Noland Trail, this is amanda scouting the way...

Josh's Burrito San Jose. +10" burrito at Plaza Azteca. He finished the WHOLE THING and was only slightly ill afterwards.

Josh and I at Plaza Azteca... I'm looking quite rough... ew.

Mandi and Hosh playing 'Sixes'. "Bet you didn't see THIS coming!!!" (said Hosh as he gave away his King.... ha!)

The kids at the crazy Christmas House in Hampton.

Cooking on Christmas Eve (4 days after surgery...ha!)

Travis making good use of that ladder, changing the light for Grandaddy.

So there you have it... a little smathering from the last 4 months of adventures- here, there and everywhere!!! Love you guys!
